New Service Promotion of the Week

This week staff at the Missouri Career Center in Maryville will be promoting the Work Ready Missouri program.  Work Ready is a program designed to assist individuals receiving Unemployment Insurance with accessing occupational training through local businesses in a job shadowing/work experience format.    The program allows the individual to job shadow and gain work experience (unpaid) for up to 24 hours and still receive their unemployment for up to 6 weeks.  Individuals will also be eligible for a gas stipend while participating.  There is a possibility that after the 6 weeks is completed the individual could be hired by the business as an employee.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who in unemployed to maintain their connection to the workforce and broaden their network of contacts.  They will all gain experience and valuable skills that can be added to their resume.

Interested individuals can go to http://www.workready.mo.gov/ to complete a short (less than a minute) informational screen or call 1-800-592-6020.  If they are determined eligible to participate a staff member will call them to discuss what educational opportunties are open with local businesses.

For more information contact Becky Chambers at (816) 387-9675.
