Green Jobs Summit December 16th

On Wednesday, December 16th, the Northwest Green Jobs Taskforce will be hosting a Green Jobs Summit in St. Joseph.  The Green Jobs Summit is an opportunity for business leaders, economic development and workforce development professionals and community organizations to learn more about the green jobs industry in northwest Missouri.  The event, sponsored by the Northwest Workforce Investment Board, is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature the release of data from the recently completed Green Jobs Occupational Survey.

The Summit will include two seminars on renewable energy.  Kansas City Power & Light (KC P & L) will be presenting on the company’s plans to ensure that wind, solar and biomass resources are available in the region, as cost effective energy alternatives while also improving the environment. Area leaders will also have an opportunity to learn from North Central Missouri College about the Wind Energy Technician training program and other green training efforts being developed by the community college.

Attendees of the summit will have the opportunity to tour the Remington Nature Center as part of this free event.  Individuals interested in attending the Green Jobs Summit can register at www.greenjobsummit.eventbrite.com by December 14th.
